The Queen and other members of the Royal Family hosted a welcome ceremony, a luncheon, and a state banquet on Day 1 of the American state visit to the United Kingdom.
Plenty of bejeweled treats from today's events - starting with a two brooch/two pendant daytime roster! The Queen started out with the Round Cambridge Emerald Brooch with its pendant attached. It's already the second time this year we've seen this one, and I like that track record. The Duchess of Cornwall was decked out in her usual picks, her

Instead of transferring the Cambridge Emerald to her dress once inside Buckingham Palace for the luncheon, The Queen gave us a different brooch on her dress: the Cullinan VI and VIII! It's also the second 2019 appearance for this brooch, and even more of a treat.

For the evening's state banquet, I suppose you could say The Queen paid tribute to the shared flag colors of the two nations with her combo of rubies, diamonds, and the Garter blue sash. These are some rare-ish picks, in fact: the Burmese Ruby Tiara hasn't been worn in the time this site's been keeping track and the Crown Ruby Earrings and Necklace were last worn in 2015. Her white gown features daisies with crystal centers and is, as usual, by Angela Kelly.

The Duchess of Cornwall has been using her mother-in-law's strategy of white gowns for state events for some time now, continued this evening in her repeated Bruce Oldfield dress. She also wore my favorite of her pearl chokers for a lovely dash of pink and brought out the earrings she wore on her wedding day for the first time in a while.

The Duchess of Cambridge's big debut tonight was the riband and star of the Royal Victorian Order. It's her first time in a sash; she was given the honor on her wedding anniversary earlier this year. She paired this with her usual state banquet tiara choice and the sapphire and diamond earrings she has previously loaned from The Queen. Her white gown is by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.

Big news from The Countess of Wessex, too, as
her Wedding Tiara has had a bit of a makeover! The side elements have been changed and moved closer in - reducing some of the "cat ear" effect the previous design was often tagged with.

It also looks as though she is wearing the

Rounding things out in suites of pearls and diamonds, Princess Michael of Kent wore the
Kent Festoon Tiara and Princess Alexandra wore the
Ogilvy Tiara in its pearl version.
All in all, a splendid display of Windsor jewels!
