Visit to Somerset

The Queen visited Somerset.
Royal Family

Doesn't get much more Spring-like than this outfit, does it? Her Maj got to meet some horses, we got to see the Jardine Star for the first time this year - all in all, a satisfying away day.

Not a lot of luck on the brooch front these two days (this one could be the Pearl Triangle). We do have some splendidly attired guests, though: Her Excellency Aleksandra Joksimovic, Ambassador from the Republic of Serbia, with her husband Sinisa Krajcinovic here...

...and His Excellency Tarek Adel, Ambassador from the Arab Republic of Egypt, with his wife Mona Said here. 10/10, would like to see this hat at Ascot.

How 'bout an 18.8 carat diamond to start your weekend right?

Bush House Opening

The Queen, Patron, and The Duchess of Cambridge visited King's College London to open Bush House.
Royal Family

Nice to see another face join the rotating cast of family members accompanying The Queen after The Duke of Edinburgh's retirement, isn't it? I'm picturing a Wheel of Fortune type deal, with family photos spinning around to see which one ends up as the day's lucky companion...

Royal Family

Anyway, it's new Catherine Walker for Kate and it looks a lot like some older ones to me, so I can't muster up a bunch to say about that.

Royal Family

I will thank her, though, because it seems her fashion details gave way to some additional reporting on Her Maj's own fashion specifics: a Stewart Parvin old rose cashmere coat and a silk dress with autumnal woodland shades of grey, fuchsia, and olive. Her matching hat is by Rachel Trevor-Morgan hat and she wore her pink sapphire and diamond surround brooch.

The Christening of Lena Tindall

March 16: The Queen, along with other members of the Royal Family, attended the christening of Lena Tindall, daughter of Zara and Mike Tindall, at St. Nicholas Church in Cherington, Gloucestershire.

Looks like this is the first documented appearance in 2019 for the Pearl Trefoil! You can see more from this event here at Hello's site.

I thought we might have a sighting of the Aquamarine Clips here - it's been a year since we saw them last - but I have to call it instead for the Aqua Art Deco. (Which is actually my fave of the two at the moment, it's just weird the old Aqua Clips have fallen off so far off the radar.)

Commonwealth Day

The Queen and other members of the Royal Family attended the Commonwealth Day observance service at Westminster Abbey.

I was going to say that the Kent Amethyst Brooch would have been my preference on Her Maj's outfit for the Prince of Wales' reception last week, but never mind - she didn't keep me waiting to see it too long! The color on this repeated Angela Kelly ensemble is a perfectly luscious background for this historic amethyst gem.

Two royal ladies in purple, it's my lucky day. With her Bruce Oldfield coat and Philip Treacy hat, The Duchess of Cornwall donned a favorite combo: her Everyday Pearl Pendant Earrings and Four Strand Pearl Choker with Large Diamond Clasp.

Camilla kept up her blingy purple mood for the evening reception at Marlborough House, where she wore her new(er) purple stone choker and her big amethyst earrings.

With her repeated Catherine Walker coat and new hat, The Duchess of Cambridge brought the jewel intrigue:

A fascinating pair of new-to-us diamond earrings. I've had lots of questions already if they're loans from The Queen; if they are, they're nothing known to me. They also have significant differences from the tops of the diamond and pearl earrings the late Diana, Princess of Wales received as a wedding gift from the Emir of Qatar, another comparison I've seen made.

Last but never least, The Duchess of Sussex went for Victoria Beckham in her second outfit of the day. I'm itching to tweak the hat, but an otherwise solid appearance.

Science Museum Visit

The Queen visited the Science Museum in London to announce its summer exhibition, "Top Secret", and to unveil the new Smith Centre.
Royal Family

We've now seen this orange outfit with three different brooches: the Australian Wattle, Queen Victoria's Bow, and today's Singapore Peranakan Diamond Jubilee Brooch. The yellow tones (either the gold here or the yellow diamonds of the Wattle) are definitely my preference.

At milestone from today's visit: Her Maj posted on Instagram for the very first time. Try a cute dog pic next time, ma'am! That's what social media's really for.

Today, as I visit the Science Museum I was interested to discover a letter from the Royal Archives, written in 1843 to my great-great-grandfather Prince Albert. Charles Babbage, credited as the world’s first computer pioneer, designed the “Difference Engine”, of which Prince Albert had the opportunity to see a prototype in July 1843. In the letter, Babbage told Queen Victoria and Prince Albert about his invention the “Analytical Engine” upon which the first computer programmes were created by Ada Lovelace, a daughter of Lord Byron. Today, I had the pleasure of learning about children’s computer coding initiatives and it seems fitting to me that I publish this Instagram post, at the Science Museum which has long championed technology, innovation and inspired the next generation of inventors. We've really been lucky lately with the brooch identifications. So I suppose we were due for one without a shot, SIGH.

Reception for The Prince of Wales

The Queen, accompanied by other members of the Royal Family, hosted a Buckingham Palace reception to mark the 50th anniversary of the Investiture of The Prince of Wales.
Clarence House

It's festive purple print for Her Maj today, with one of her Amethyst Bouquet Brooches to accessorize. (This, if you're keeping track, is the "new" one.)

Engagement and Wedding Rings

There's no better occasion for a Prince of Wales feathers brooch, is there? The Duchess of Cornwall has a few to select from; this one is probably the best known, the emerald and diamond model from Queen Alexandra. She added her Four Strand Pearl Choker with Large Diamond Clasp and her Everyday Pearl Pendant Earrings.

Other guests! The Duchess of Cambridge's new dress (very much like a Beulah dress she already owns) is apparently from her private dressmaker. The Duchess of Sussex repeated her Amanda Wakeley white coat over a metallic dress. And The Princess Royal is probably repeating too, because she's Anne.
