The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh departed from Aberdeen Airport after a weekend at Balmoral.

Not jewel news today, but a few happenings of mild interest for Her Maj. First, she and Prince Philip were spotted leaving Scotland after a weekend getaway to Balmoral; second, we have two new portraits from her birthday photoshoot with Annie Leibovitz. Several pictures by Leibovitz - including that charming display of The Queen with the youngest members of the Royal Family - were already released on HM's birthday.
The new-to-us snaps come courtesy of Vanity Fair magazine, which has a feature on Her Maj in the new issue. The cover shows one, a cozy scene with The Queen's four dogs (Willow, Vulcan, Candy and Holly). In this gallery you'll find the second, where she is pictured with The DoE. The cover photo is particularly excellent, I think - the pink flowers really give it a little something extra.
