The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of Cambridge (The Earl of Strathearn, in Scotland), and The Princess Royal, attended a Service for the Order of the Thistle at St. Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh.
The Thistle service is normally a time for the Queen to show off either her emeralds or her white stones (diamonds and/or pearls), in keeping with the predominant colors of her Thistle robes. But this year: rubies! Not my favorite combination, to be honest, but then I was hoping for an emerald showing. She also appeared to have a bracelet on, but under her gloves.
Later, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh attended a commemoration service at the Scottish National War Memorial at Edinburgh Castle.
And finally, a lovely diamond flower brooch to finish out the day.
