Holyrood Week, Day 1

The Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, arrived at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh, at the start of the annual week of Scottish engagements. Her Majesty was presented with the Keys of the City which she returned in the traditional Ceremony of the Keys. The Guard of Honor from the The Royal Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland mounted in the Forecourt of the Palace was reviewed. Her Majesty and His Royal Highness later officially re-opened the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
A rainy start to Holyrood Week gave us a Queen covered up with a raincoat at the Ceremony of the Keys, but when she arrived at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery she had a surprise in store for us: a (potentially) new brooch! Click below for more details.
