Festival of Remembrance

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by other members of the Royal Family, attended the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
This is very fancy, this little outfit. But even with diamonds and pearls blazing, she's still out-blinged by the DoE. Those suits must be steel reinforced to support all that hardware.

Investiture at Buckingham Palace

The Queen held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace. Among the honors given was a knighthood for Kenneth Branagh.

HM is positively sparkling, though I can't quite make out the brooch very well. Thoughts? Thank you to Jelena and Sosika for pointing out this is probably Queen Mary's Russian Brooch. (Also: Kenneth Branagh! Yay!)

Poppy Factory Visit

The Queen visited the Royal British Legion Poppy Factory in Richmond, Surrey to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The factory makes poppies and wreaths for Remembrance Day and employs a number of wounded ex-service personnel.
Click above to see a report from the BBC.
While at the factory, Her Maj pitched in and helped make a poppy. I love a little royal arts and crafts time. (I also love a little royal amethyst, but I probably don't need to tell you that every time.)

Cover of "Dressing the Queen"

Angela Kelly, Personal Assistant, Adviser and Curator to the Queen, has written "Dressing the Queen: The Jubilee Wardrobe" which is now available for purchase.
A slew of sneak peeks into Ms. Kelly's book are out today, and I'm getting very excited to get my own copy. It's unusual for a staffer to be granted permission to write a book, especially one so close to the Queen, so this should be interesting. It looks like it will include behind-the-scenes looks into dressing the Queen overall in addition to her special Jubilee wardrobe, and maybe even some interesting jewel tidbits. The cover photograph is new, which is what we have the jewel rundown on today.

The Small Pink and Diamond Brooch

The Small Pink and Diamond Brooch
This small brooch in the Queen's collection includes a central pink stone framed by diamonds and surrounded by larger round diamonds. On the outer edge, small diamonds are tucked between the largest stones. The pink stone itself is a pink sapphire of a vibrant shade; the identification of the type of pink stone remained unknown for years, but it was reported as a pink sapphire brooch when The Queen wore it in a portrait issued to mark her becoming the longest-reigning British monarch, so this is probably palace-confirmed.
It's a small gem, but quite classic and pretty I think - and a great occasional accompaniment to the Queen's pink outfits, which is a particularly lovely color on her.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh bid farewell to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and Mrs. Yudhoyono at the conclusion of their State Visit to the United Kingdom.
The clips are back! After a solid run in October, these little blue babies are making a play for the title of Most Worn Brooch of 2012.

Jubilee Stained Glass Window Unveiling

The Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, attended a Service of Dedication to unveil the Diamond Jubilee stained glass window at the Queen's Chapel of the Savoy.
Click above for an article and video; click here for an article and a look at the full window.
I love this window! It features the Queen on a horse with a corgi tagging along, plus the quote from her 21st birthday speech that has defined her reign: "I declare before you all my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service." Now, that's what I call a tribute.
