Investiture at Buckingham Palace

November 21: The Queen held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace.

I haven't seen a view to allow for brooch guessing from this event, but we can dream of sapphires anyway.

The Small Pink and Diamond Brooch was the definite selection for the evening's event...

...and it was my first thought for the day, although it looks like that could be something of a different shape in the end. Two outfits does usually mean two different brooches.

November  17: The Queen attended church while staying at Windsor Castle for the weekend.

No question here, though: the Flower Basket, on just its second appearance for the year.

A center pearl and a guessing game - with the Pearl Trefoil, as always, a strong option - on tap for today's brooch fun.

And just like that, we're back to the norm: a brooch for sure, but no idea which one.

I'm thinking we have a Palm Leaf in action here, but the floor is open for your guesses.

Can you spy the brooch on this dress? At first glance, it appears to be the Cambridge Pearl Pendant Brooch worn without its pendant. I am thinking, however, that it may be another; The Queen has at least one other small round brooch with a central pearl and diamond surround (honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if she has more than one other, this is a popular and not particularly distinctive arrangement of stones). This brooch seems a bit smaller than the Cambridge. It's very difficult to be certain without a front view and on this background.

Church at Balmoral

May 26: The Queen, accompanied by The Earl of Wessex and Lady Louise, attended church at Crathie Kirk while staying on the Balmoral Estate.

Looks like something floral here, but tricky to tell, so I turn the guessing over to you.

Church at Windsor

May 5: The Queen attended church at the Royal Chapel of All Saints, Windsor Park.

Seems like all the baby commotion around Windsor brought us a bonus glimpse of The Queen this weekend. No complaints here, although it's a little hard to make out the brooch. I'll turn it over to you for guesses.

Not a lot of luck on the brooch front these two days (this one could be the Pearl Triangle). We do have some splendidly attired guests, though: Her Excellency Aleksandra Joksimovic, Ambassador from the Republic of Serbia, with her husband Sinisa Krajcinovic here...

We got to see the Diamond Quatrefoil Bracelet on The Duchess of Cambridge tonight at the BAFTAs (along with some of Diana's pearl and diamond earrings), and it has me longing for a big sparkling event with loads more of Her Maj's gems on show. Instead, The Queen's still at Sandringham, having decided to extend her stay for a few more days, and the rain's taken away even the chance for a brooch glimpse. Alas.

Something with a pearl, but other than that, I'm turning the guessing game over to you.

Balmoral Holiday, 2018

By Nick Bramhall from Aberdeen, UK - Balmoral Castle Uploaded by Kurpfalzbilder.de, CC BY-SA 2.0

The Queen started her annual summer Balmoral holiday on July 19. She stayed at Craigowan Lodge on the Balmoral estate while the castle was still open to the public as she usually does, followed by taking up official residence at the castle itself on August 6. Her break usually ends around late September/early October with an engagement or two in Scotland before heading south.

Any appearances by The Queen during her holiday will be gathered in this post.

***********

October 7: NEW! As she wraps up her Balmoral break, Her Maj jumps straight from summer to winter with her fur-trimmed red outfit. Both the Gold Trellis Brooch and Lady Sarah Chatto accompanied her to church today.

September 30: The Sapphire and Diamond Grapes Brooch shows up at church as blue continues to be the color of the summer.

September 23: The Diamond and Pearl Navette Brooch makes another church appearance. In other Balmoral news, The Queen was spotted checking in on some horses, and unfortunately one of her ladies-in-waiting, The Hon. Mary Morrison, broke her ankle in a fall at the castle. [Express, Hello]

September 16: Another church brooch that needs no debate: the Singapore Peranakan Diamond Jubilee Brooch.

September 9: Church again and hmm, interesting, this kinda looks like a badge to me. We'll see what you think. Here's a gallery for your investigation. [Zimbio]

September 2: The Cullinan V Brooch stands out beautifully on this navy coat for another Sunday at Crathie Kirk.

September 1: The annual Braemar Gathering has its own post right here.

August 26: More members of the Royal Family have arrived at Balmoral. The Queen, wearing the Pearl Navette Brooch, was joined in her car for church by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Duchess wore the Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings on loan from The Queen. [Evening Standard]

August 19: A good effort from the Pearl Trefoil Brooch here, trying to stand out on this beige tweed for another Sunday church outing.

August 12: It's about time for a thistle brooch. The Three Thistle Brooch was worn to church at Balmoral. Princess Beatrice accompanied her grandmother, wearing a fabulous Garbo hat. [People, Sun]

August 6: The Queen starts her official residency at Balmoral Castle with the traditional welcome ceremony. This always includes inspecting a Royal Guard, so of course the Royal Regiment of Scotland Badge was the pick.

August 5: Church at Balmoral, and if history's an indication, not the first time this summer the brooch will be tough to identify.

July 29: Church at Crathie Kirk near the Balmoral estate, her place of worship while in residence, wearing the Jardine Star Brooch. [Hello]

Church at Balmoral and Visit to Kensington Palace

The Queen, accompanied by The Earl of Wessex and Lady Louise, attended church at Crathie Kirk while staying on the Balmoral Estate.

The Queen appears to be having a bit of a rest in Scotland before the busy June royal calendar kicks in. This is one of two recent sightings with difficult brooches to identify. Click here for more pics at the Scottish Sun.

May 24: The Queen visited Kensington Palace.

She also popped by Kensington Palace last week, in another tough to ID brooch. Click here for a pic at the Sun.

Audience at Windsor Castle

There are so many heads of state in town for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting this week that The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge, and Prince Harry all had to pitch in to cover the welcome duties. The Queen met with the President of South Africa and presented him with an interesting gift: letters exchanged between herself and Nelson Mandela marking South Africa's re-entry into the Commonwealth in 1994. You can see the usual gifts of framed photographs are off to the side. The brooch, alas, is much harder to see.
