Church at Balmoral and Visit to Kensington Palace

The Queen, accompanied by The Earl of Wessex and Lady Louise, attended church at Crathie Kirk while staying on the Balmoral Estate.

The Queen appears to be having a bit of a rest in Scotland before the busy June royal calendar kicks in. This is one of two recent sightings with difficult brooches to identify. Click here for more pics at the Scottish Sun.

May 24: The Queen visited Kensington Palace.

She also popped by Kensington Palace last week, in another tough to ID brooch. Click here for a pic at the Sun.

Royal Windsor Horse Show

May 9-13: The Queen attended the Royal Windsor Horse Show at Home Park, Windsor.

The Royal Windsor Horse Show is mainly an opportunity to see The Queen in casual mode - this year's casual outfits included a Two Strand Pearl Necklace, Pearl Stud Earrings, one of her Black Strap Watches, and her Engagement and Wedding Rings - but a few brooches also manage to get in on the action.

And it looks like we have a third brooch here, at what I suppose is some of the evening entertainment. Maybe The Queen Mother's Palm Leaf Brooch, hard to be sure.

A lovely light outfit for a lovely Spring day, and not a bad background for the big diamonds in this brooch.

Also today, The Queen received the Prime Minister of Canada and the Prime Minister of India for audiences at Buckingham Palace.

The brooch also made an appearance on the dress underneath, where it is much harder to make out.

Audiences at Buckingham Palace

The Queen held audiences at Buckingham Palace.

Still taking care of business in London, and still bringing us the brooch treats. Another look at the Triple Diamond Bar Brooch here, though I must say this is not its best canvas. (Diamonds this big really shouldn't be allowed to blend into anything, no?)

Visit to Northern Ireland, Day 2

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited the Giant's Causeway, unveiled a statue to Victoria Cross recipient Robert Quigg in Bushmills, attended a reception at Portrush Golf Club, took a steam train ride, and officially opened a new train station at Bellarena on the last day of their visit to Northern Ireland.

Two days and two brooches, both on their second appearances! This is a much clearer look at the Triple Diamond Bar Brooch than we got at its first appearance in 2014, and you can really see just how large these diamonds are. A simple design, but a staggering carat weight.

The Triple Diamond Bar Brooch

The Triple Diamond Bar Brooch
This brooch appears to include three large stones, diamonds perhaps, with one larger central stone and two slightly smaller stones to either side, all three enclosed in a delicate diamond outline. The provenance of the brooch is unconfirmed, but one possibility would be a design created from loose diamonds received as a gift while The Queen, as Princess Elizabeth, was in South Africa in 1947.*
Its appearance at a Commonwealth Day reception in 2014 may have been its first public appearance on the Queen. Hopefully we will see it again and get a better look.

*Thanks to research from the posters at the Royal Jewels of the World Message Board, and thanks to Jelena for bringing attention to it here.
